How to read coordinates on a grid map

A grid map helps the map reader to locate a place. The horizontal lines are called eastings, and they go from left to right. They are represented by letters.

The vertical lines are called northings, and they go up and down.They are represented by numbers.

On a grid map, we write the eastings first (letters) and then the northings (numbers). For example, the restaurant is in C1.
