Ideas previas

Para recoger conocimientos previos,muestre un celular o el de algún estudiante y pregunte:

Whose cell phone is this? Is it yours? Is it mine? Is it his? Is it hers? Esto permitirá descubrir el conocimiento previo de los estudiantes, y prever las confusiones que estos posesivos pueden generar.

Errores frecuentes

El uso de possessive pronouns podría generar confusión, especialmente ante la tendencia de algunos estudiantes de añadir un sustantivo cuando no es necesario, e.g.: That is hers tablet, ya que se suele confundir con adjetivos posesivos. Para evitar este error, se sugiere que antes de las actividades se haga un repaso sobre word classes, haciendo énfasis entre las diferencias entre pronombres y adjetivos. Pronouns in a sentence can substitute nouns, that is why we don't need a noun after a pronoun. Adjectives add information about the noun.

Propósito y recomendaciones

El propósito es que los estudiantes logren diferenciar entre possessive pronouns y possessive adjectives, y que sepan usarlos correctamente en distintas oraciones.Para reforzar el contenido se recomienda revisar la sección Grammar Reference de la página 68 del Cuaderno de Actividades para que los estudiantes observen los cuadros comparativos de ambos posesivos. Una vez revisado el contenido,ponga en práctica la diferencia entre ambos tipos de palabras a través de la creación de un diálogo: In pairs, write a dialogue in which you use different adjectives and different pronouns. Then, share your dialogue with the class. You can use some props if you want.
