Speaking Task 1

Work in pairs. Look at the map and create comparative sentences about different countries from South America.

1. Identifico los países del mapa: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Brasil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina y Chile.
2. Uso la estructura comparativa: A + is + adjetivo comparativo + than + B.
3. Comparo superficie, población y ubicación.

Imagine you meet someone from another country who is planning to visit the south of Chile. Write three suggestions before coming.

1. Pienso en el clima frío y lluvioso del sur.
2. Pienso en la ropa y el calzado adecuados.
3. Pienso en reservar alojamiento y transporte con anticipación.

Express your opinion. What place is more attractive for a tourist: the north or the south of Chile? Why? Give at least one argument.

In my opinion, the south of Chile is more attractive for a tourist than the north. First, it has amazing landscapes such as volcanoes, lakes, rivers and native forests. Second, visitors can enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking and skiing. For these reasons, I recommend visiting the south of Chile.
