Endangered animals

Today, some types of animals are endangered species. This means that there are very few animals of that kind which live on the Earth. In other words, they are in danger of extinction.

But why do animals extinct? One cause of extinction is the destruction of habitat. There are a lot of people on the planet and these people need a lot of space. As a result, the new building areas push animals out of their natural homes.

Many animals which live in forest and swamp habitats are affected. Humans cut down a lot of trees to make room for homes and businesses, and swamps are filled in so that neighborhoods can expand.

Another cause of endangerment of animals is overhunting. Overhunting means that humans kill too many animals as a sport. This terrible practice can quickly reduce the number of animals that still live in their habitats and only few of them can survive.

Fortunately, there is hope for animals which are on the endangered species list. Some

organizations are working hard to recreate habitats for them. But we also have to take action and be aware to think before we act. The things we do can affect more than just ourselves.
