STUDENT'S BOOK - UNIT 3 - PAGE 89EXERCISE 11
Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs were extraordinary animals that came in all sizes and shapes. They ruled the Earth for millions of years, until they became extinct and almost all animal life in the world disappeared. Scientists have three main theories about what caused the extinction of these animals. They believe that maybe an enormous asteroid hit the Earth, the volcanoes activated massively or maybe the climate changed and the earth became very cold.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex, or T. Rex, is a world famous example of these animals. It probably lived in forests. It ate meat. It measured 4.6 to 6 meters tall. It had a big head, two very short arms and walked on two legs. It ran fast at thirty kilometers per hour and it only weighed five to seven tons. The Brontosaurus is another example of these extinct animals. It lived in tropical habitats. It only ate plants. It had a very long neck and a tail of about 15 meters. It walked slowly on four legs and it weighed about thirty tons.
Dinosaurs became extinct, but many similar species survived, like crocodiles, birds, and some sea animals.
