Muestre a los estudiantes imágenes de las culturas presentes en el texto:Aborígenes de Australia, Cherokee y Huichol. Al mostrar las imágenes, pre.gunte lo siguiente:

• What are the names of these ancient cultures?

• Where do each of these ancient cultures live?

• What do you think are some of the customs and characteristics of each of these cultures?

Aborigines

The Aborigines of Australia have the longest cultural history in the world. They originated in the Ice Age. Early Aboriginal society consisted of around five hundred tribes and each had its own territory and dialect. Their culture existed in rock art, cave paintings, and engraving of plants, animals, and ceremonies.

Aboriginal tribes hunted kangaroos, snakes, and emus. They also gathered fruit, roots, honey, and seeds. They walked long distances and they often did not wear clothes. In winter, they would wear protective coats of kangaroo fur. British colonizers were the first to settle in Australia. They took the land from the Aborigine people.

Today. Aborigines have adapted to Australian culture. Some family groups live in remote areas where they try to maintain traditional hunting. food gathering and ceremonial practices.However, communication and transport have changed their lifestyles. Now they wear modern clothes and use technology

El propósito de esta página es que los estudiantes puedan leer y comprender un texto acerca de culturas aborígenes, en este caso, los de Australia, Cherokee y Huichol, en que se presentan los datos más importantes para comprender su historia, sus costumbres, y su relación con el mundo actual. La lectura de este texto con esta temática en particular apunta a que los estudiantes puedan ampliar su visión de mundo y valoren el aporte cultural de estas comunidades en cada uno de los países de los que ahora forman parte. Se sugiere profundizar en la discusión respecto a la importancia de pueblos indígenas con la siguiente pregunta:
