Let's practice how to compare different objects.

Paso 1

In assembly, look at the bag your teacher has on his desk: it contains objects of different shapes, colors, lengths, among others.

Respuesta orientativa: Observo la bolsa y anticipo el vocabulario que necesitaré: shape (forma), color, length (longitud), texture (textura).

Paso 2

Individually, take turns to come up to the desk and feel one of the objects from the bag. Describe what it feels like and guess its shape and size.

Respuesta orientativa: It feels soft and smooth. I think it is round and small, maybe a ball or a stone.

Paso 3

Choose a classmate to write on the board some of the adjectives you and other participants mention.

Respuesta orientativa: Adjetivos posibles: soft, hard, rough, smooth, round, square, long, short, heavy, light, big, small.

Paso 4

Take turns to guess what the object is based on the adjectives used by the classmate who is touching and describing it.

Respuesta orientativa: Is it a tennis ball? It is round, soft and light.

Paso 5

If you guess the object, your teacher will let you take it out of the bag and show it to the class, pointing out the adjectives on the board that describe it.

Respuesta orientativa: This is a tennis ball. It is round, soft, light and small. It is smaller than a football.

Preguntas para practicar

Why do we use 'as... as' instead of 'than'?

Usamos 'as... as' cuando dos elementos tienen el mismo grado de una cualidad (igualdad), mientras que 'than' se usa cuando hay diferencia entre ellos (comparativo de superioridad o inferioridad).
