Simple Present vs Present Continuous

Check this:

• They are feeling happy and curious.
• They are taking pictures.

This shows they are doing something at the moment of speaking.

Simple Present

We use the simple present when we talk about things that happen regularly or all the time. It's like a habit.

For example: "I play with my toys every day." This means playing with toys is something you do regularly.

Present Continuous

We use the present continuous when we talk about things happening right now or around now. It's like a snapshot of what's going on.

For example: "I am playing with my toys." This means you are playing with your toys at this very moment.

I _______ (like) to eat ice cream.

1. Acción habitual → Simple Present, sujeto I → like.

She _______ (read) a book every night.

1. 'Every night' indica hábito → Simple Present. Sujeto she (3a pers.) → reads.

He _______ (play) with his toys right now.

1. 'Right now' indica acción en curso → Present Continuous. He → is playing.

They _______ (run) in the park at the moment.

1. 'At the moment' → Present Continuous. They → are running.

My dog always _______ (bark) loudly.

1. 'Always' → hábito → Simple Present. Dog (3a pers.) → barks.

Look! The birds _______ (sing) in the trees.

1. 'Look!' indica que sucede ahora → Present Continuous. Birds → are singing.

Cats _______ (sleep) a lot during the day.

1. Verdad general → Simple Present. Cats (plural) → sleep.

We _______ (go) to school from Monday to Friday.

1. Acción habitual → Simple Present. We → go.

I _______ (draw) a picture for my mom today.

1. 'Today' como acción puntual → Present Continuous. I → am drawing.

The kids _______ (dance) in the living room now.

1. 'Now' → Present Continuous. The kids → are dancing.

Ejemplo 1

Resolver: 'I play with my toys every day.'

1. La frase indica una acción habitual ('every day') → usar Simple Present.
2. Sujeto 'I' → forma base del verbo: play.
3. Resultado: 'I play with my toys every day.'

Ejemplo 2

Resolver: 'I am playing with my toys.'

1. La frase indica acción en curso → usar Present Continuous.
2. Estructura: am/is/are + verbo-ing.
