Para reportar sugerencias se usan los verbos recommended, proposed y suggested en pasado simple. Hay tres estructuras:

that + sujeto + verbo base: Benito suggested (that) we drink water before exercising.
that + sujeto + should + verbo base: Benito suggested (that) we should drink water before exercising.
gerundio (-ing): Benito suggested drinking water before exercising. (no se menciona el sujeto que recibe la sugerencia).

Ejercicio 1

Reescribe las oraciones usando el verbo de reporte entre paréntesis.

Parte 1.a

"If you want to rest properly, go to bed early," Nidia said. (recommended)

Identifico el verbo de reporte: recommended (pasado).

Reported Suggestions

To report suggestions, you can use the following verbs in simple past tense: recommended, proposed, and suggested.

There are three ways to report suggestions. Read the following explanations and examples:

After the reporting verb in the past tense (suggested, proposed, recommended), you add that and the subject (person or persons who receive the suggestion/advice), then you add the verb of the direct suggestion in its base form and the object of the sentence.	Direct speech: "Let's drink water before exercising," Benito said. Reported suggestion (with or without that): Benito suggested (that) we drink water before exercising.
After the reporting verb in the past tense (suggested, proposed, recommended), you add that and the subject (person or persons who receive the suggestion/advice), then you add should and the verb of the direct suggestion in its base form and the object of the sentence.
