Ejercicio 1

Teoría: Modal Verbs of Obligation (Verbos modales de obligación)

Traducción: Puedes usar have to, must y should para hablar de obligaciones, de cosas necesarias de hacer o para dar consejos sobre cosas que son buena idea. Hay una ligera diferencia en su uso: have to es más frecuente en la conversación, mientras que must se usa más en escritura formal. Además, must solo existe en presente simple y presente perfecto. Usa should para consejos o sugerencias.

Modal Verb (Verbo modal) Structure (Estructura) Example Sentence (Oración de ejemplo) Use (Uso)

have to subject + has to/have to + verbo en forma base + objeto We have to listen to the rules so we can follow them.
should subject + should + verbo en forma base + objeto You should ask your classmates for help if you don't know the rules. (Deberías pedir ayuda a tus compañeros si no conoces las reglas.) Indica una recomendación o consejo.

Ejercicio 1

Ejercicio 2

Enunciado (traducido): Completa los espacios con los verbos must, have to o should.

a
Parte 2.a

Enunciado: Before the game starts, the players __________ decide on the rules together.

  2. Con sujeto plural se usa must + verbo base.
Respuesta

Before the game starts, the players must decide on the rules together. (Los jugadores deben decidir las reglas juntos.)

b
Parte 2.b

Enunciado: Fausto doesn't know what to do. He __________ ask his friends for help. (Fausto no sabe qué hacer. Él __________ pedir ayuda a sus amigos.)

  2. Se usa should + verbo base.

c
Parte 2.c

  2. Con sujeto plural se usa have to + verbo base (se descarta must porque ya expresa la regla formal en 2.a y aquí lo natural es el requisito).

3
Ejercicio 3

Respuesta

Oraciones completadas: a) must, b) should, c) have to, d) should, e) have to; con justificación de la fuerza de cada modal (obligación fuerte, necesidad o consejo).
