Uérakua anapu uantakua. Projects and Readings. Libro de Educación Secundaria Grado 3° Ciclo Escolar 2025 - 2026

Explicación de la página

La página presenta dos tipos de preguntas en inglés: Object Questions y Subject Questions.

Object Questions (preguntas por el objeto)

Se usan cuando queremos información sobre el objeto de la oración. Necesitan un verbo auxiliar (do/does/did, will, etc.) y las question words: when, where, why, who, what, which.

Estructura: Question word + auxiliar + sujeto + verbo principal + ...?

Ejemplos de la página:

  • When did you move here? → I moved here four years ago.
  • Where do you live? → I live in Mexico City.
  • Why will they arrive until next week? → Because they have work to do this week.
  • What did you do last Friday? → I went to the movies with my friends.

Subject Questions (preguntas por el sujeto)

Se usan cuando queremos información sobre el sujeto de la oración. No se usa auxiliar; el orden es el de una oración afirmativa. Question words: who, what, which.

Estructura: Question word + verbo + complemento?

Ejemplos de la página:

  • Who lives there? → My best friend lives there.
  • Which horse has the best saddle? → The brown horse has the best saddle.
  • What makes you happy? → Listening to music makes me happy.

Respuesta orientativa: La diferencia clave es que las object questions requieren auxiliar porque el sujeto ya se conoce, mientras que las subject questions no lo requieren porque la question word ocupa el lugar del sujeto.

Object Questions

These are the most frequent type of questions in English. We ask them when we want information about the object of the sentence. We need an auxiliary verb to form these questions. You can use the following question words: when, where, why, who, what, which.

  • Where do you live? I live in Mexico City.
  • Why will they arrive until next week? Because they have work to do this week.
  • What did you do last Friday? I went to the movies with my friends.

Subject Questions

We ask them when we want information about the subject of the sentence. We do not use an auxiliary to form these questions. You can use the following question words: who, what, which.

Glosario (4)

Object question
Pregunta que indaga sobre el objeto de la oración; requiere auxiliar.
Subject question
Pregunta que indaga sobre el sujeto; no requiere auxiliar.
Auxiliary verb
Verbo auxiliar (do, does, did, will) que ayuda a formar preguntas.
Question word
Palabra interrogativa: when, where, why, who, what, which.

Preguntas para practicar

¿Por qué las object questions necesitan auxiliar y las subject questions no?

Porque en las object questions el sujeto ya se conoce y la question word pregunta por el objeto, por lo que se necesita un auxiliar para invertir el orden. En las subject questions la question word reemplaza al sujeto, así que no hay inversión ni auxiliar.
