When we talk about the past it is necessary to use the Simple Past tense. It is a verb tense used to describe an action that took place in the past. It is used to talk about completed actions or events that happened at a specific time in the past.

Structure

  • Regular verbs: base form + -ed (e.g., walk → walked).
  • Irregular verbs: changed past form (e.g., go → went).

Affirmative: Subject + Verb in the past form (base + ed/d for regular verbs or past tense form for irregulars).

Negative: Subject + did not + infinitive without 'to'.

Interrogative: Did + subject + infinitive without 'to'.

Negative Interrogative: Did not + subject + infinitive without 'to'.
